The released stills showcase a society of disarray due to a supernatural phenomenon that no one can explain. One day, an angel suddenly appears and tells people they are going to hell at a certain time. And when that time arrives, unearthly beings from hell burn them alive, throwing everyone in chaos. Director Yeon Sang Ho shared, ŌĆ£If the images of angels and hell we know about were created by actually seeing something then adding imagination to it, then what would be the original design? ThatŌĆÖs what I thought when I designed them (unearthly beings).ŌĆØ Partnering with writer Choi Gyu Seik, Yeon completed the scenery with inspiration from several famous paintings. In particular, he commented that he projected the image of ŌĆ£a human who looks like a human but is engulfed by hatred towards othersŌĆØ onto the visuals of creatures from hell. Yeon added, ŌĆ£I wanted to show the beliefs of people living in that world through the collapse and reconstruction, then another collapse of the world we know.ŌĆØ ItŌĆÖs impossible to predict what kind of actions and arguments people will make based on their beliefs when faced with uncontrollable fear. Moreover, the stellar cast ŌĆō Yoo Ah In, Park Jung Min, Kim Hyun Joo, Won Jin Ah, and more ŌĆō breathes life into the characters that have to survive the chaotic society with their three-dimensional acting. The confrontation between the various groups of people of the chaotic society, from those who live and enjoy watching people damned to hell to those who are becoming increasingly maddened with their crooked beliefs, will bring new shocks and horrors. Meanwhile, Hellbound will be released on November 19th.
