The film was originally planned to be screened in 2017 after the filming was completed in 2016, but the release was indefinitely postponed in the aftermath of ŌĆ£Hallyu RestrictionŌĆØ (a ban of Korean content in China as a retaliatory action for deploying THAAD in Korea). Although Catman is a Chinese film invested by Chinese money, the film industry believes that the release has been delayed because the male lead is a K-pop idol. Amid rising expectations for the lifting of Hallyu restrictions as China started to grant new permits to Korean games, the industry is even more pleased that mainland China has accepted CatmanŌĆśs screening. Meanwhile, Catman is a romantic fantasy film about what happens when a half-human-half-cat and a woman fall in love with each other. Sehun plays a chic, confident, and cold but charming half-human-half-cat, and Janice Wu has been cast as an honest, confident woman who has created an app that translates catsŌĆÖ sounds and language. The movie was directed by Insadong Scandal director Park Hee Gon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WzxyJb-BzI&ab_channel=EXOsPotato%E1%84%89AM Source (1)
